Water Theft

The Co-op is seeing an increase in water theft. The thieves pull up to a fire hydrate usually between the hours of 11pm-4am, hook up a 2 inch hose and fill their 800-1000 gallon tank in about 30 minutes. Not only is this taking valuable resources from you it takes the system about 2 ½ hours to recover after these attacks if at all. Do not approach these individuals. We have been in touch with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s office, and they are including patrols in the area. If you see anything suspicious around our fire hydrants or tanker trucks where they shouldn’t be, PLEASE call the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s department dispatch at 505-798-7000. They will dispatch a deputy to the scene.
